True Test for Heather Mills

The impending divorce of Mrs. Paul McCartney, Heather Mills, from her hubby has turned ugly. As everyone knows, she was locked out of a home they shared and had to wait several hours before being able to retrieve some things. You know a divorce is going to be ugly when the little things matter.

As soon as they got married the snide remarks started. People questioned a woman marrying a man roughly 25 years her senior. They've questioned her reasons considering Mr. McCartney is worth a "measly" two billion dollars. He of course said it was true love and brushed aside any monetary reasons to the point of having no prenuptial agreement. In a world of "ouch" that is a big "ouch." Predatory lawyers are circling the waters to the point of mentioning something about Mills being "entitled" to about 300 million for producing a child and hanging out with Paul for a couple of years. Reports show McCartney offered anywhere from 45-55 million dollars for Heather to "struggle" through the rest of her life and for him to become the main guardian of their child. Stories have come out about Mills not being money-driven which would be nice for a change. She is said to want to donate the money from her divorce to the charity she runs regarding the destruction of landmines. If this is true she should be highly complimented. If not, well, what else is new?

Most people are cynical with this case. They should be. Case after case points to a money-driven agenda with these marriages and subsequent divorces. You really ask why they even do it in the first place? But love, even if it is fleeing, is such a powerful thing that it makes people do all sorts of "anti-reality" things like having no prenuptial agreement or pretending their marriage is "different." On top of it, McCartney met Mills not too long after his previous wife's death, about a year.

This is where the shark lawyers come in. We hear the nonsense of Mills being "used to" this lifestyle and that a huge payola is what she "deserves." Well who the hell would not get "used to" such a lifestyle? A goldfish can get used to that kind of lifestyle. But the lawyers say this because it is all about them and not the person they are representing. If they were paid more, lawyers would say up is down and down is up.

Of course, Mr. McCartney was long established before he met Ms. Mills. She had no influence whatsoever on his career.

Basically, if she refuses the 45-55,000,000 offer, then she is a fraud, a grubber. To put it in better perspective in terms of the money she has been offered, a person making a darn good salary of $100,000 per year would have to work 450-550 years to make what Ms. Mills is being offered. Incredible but true. I know, how will she get by on that?

These celebrity divorces bring out heated passion from the masses of people due to their love for the celebrity( usually) and the fact they know they will never come anywhere near the kind of money being spoken about here in their lifetimes. Thus, words like "bitch" or "money-whore" or "devil" often come out. Sometimes a man will be the one looking to cash in from a celebrity wife but that is not the norm in terms of raw numbers.

It would be nice to see a divorce not so money oriented. Either way Ms. Mills will never have to work a job again. She will never have to answer to anyone again... unlike the rest of us. Here is hoping to a decent divorce settlement with no "pig out" in terms of raiding Mr. McCartney's bank account. Does the savagery ever end?
