Martial Arts Equipment - Progress In Martial Arts

With the introduction of new and more innovative martial arts training gear we are seeing great progress being made in martial arts skills around the world. You could say this is to be expected, as in all sports athletes use training equipment and techniques. Yet there are still those in the martial arts world who believe that the traditional ways are the best ways and I believe that this is hindering their progress.

You only have to look at the equipment that is found in various martial arts styles and consider the era in which they were first used to see that even traditional martial artists strove to gain an edge through the use of martial arts equipment. However, at the time the equipment tended to be very basic compared to today. Just look at Karate with the use of the Makiwara, or perhaps the more modern arts such as Wing Chun which use the wooden dummy and Tae Kwon Do which uses targets paddles for kicking practice and of course Jeet Kune Do where Bruce Lee was showed how ahead of his time he was by advocating the use of equipment such as the heavy bag and kicking shield. Of course we are now at a stage with Mixed Martial Arts where all manner of Martial Arts Equipment is used, and the reason for this...it works!

But some people simply refuse to try out modern training equipment believing it best to practice the way the founders of the art did. Well if this sounds like you that that I am describing I have news for you...the very people you are trying to follow would most likely have jumped at the chance to use the equipment available to you as they knew that by doing so they would progress their abilities even further.

So my message to you is don't hold yourself back, make full use of the equipment available to you and progress your martial arts skills to new heights.

If this is something you would like to do then be sure to take a look at the articles that will be coming soon on my blog and at Total Martial Arts Supplies.
